Quartz and sintered stone are the two worktops we install most. Both are non-porous, so they resist stains and don't need sealing. The choice usually comes down to how you use your kitchen.
Quartz
Quartz is an engineered stone: crushed natural quartz bound with resin, then pressed into slabs. It comes in a wide range of colours and patterns and is hard-wearing for everyday use.
- Good all-rounder for most kitchens and vanities.
- Because it contains resin, avoid putting very hot pots directly on the surface — use a trivet.
- Better kept away from strong, direct sunlight, which can change the colour over time.
Sintered stone
Sintered stone is made from natural minerals fused under very high heat and pressure into an ultra-compact slab, without resin.
- High heat and UV resistance — suits heavy wok cooking and sunny spaces.
- Large-format slabs mean fewer joins on big islands.
- Thin and very hard, so edges need careful fabrication and handling.
How we help you choose
We template your actual cabinets and show you the slab layout before cutting, so you can see where seams will fall. If you're also doing cabinetry with us, the worktop is planned together with the 3D design.
